Connect more of your apps to Search

Search is becoming an action bus for Instacart, Canva and YouTube Music, which matters more as a distribution fight than as a convenience feature.
Why it matters
Google says U.S. users can securely link apps inside AI Mode and complete tasks without leaving results. Examples include adding barbecue ingredients to Instacart, requesting Canva templates and saving a playlist to YouTube Music.
The feature is rolling out the week of July 16 and follows similar connections in the Gemini app. Google says more partners are coming.
From the desk
This is Google’s own product blog, so the integrations and rollout description are vendor-reported. There is no usage, conversion or privacy-incident data here.
Signal Desk's read: connected apps turn Search from an answer surface into a transaction surface. That can reduce tab-switching, but it also places Google between the user and the destination service at the moment of action.
The commercial question is who owns the session: Search, the linked app or both. Partners may accept the distribution if they still close the purchase; they may resist if Search becomes the last click.
Context
Personal Intelligence can tailor responses using connected apps. The initial set named in the post is Instacart, Canva and YouTube Music.
