Meta is expanding its AI agent Muse to small businesses

Meta opened Muse for Small Business with Shopify, Slack, QuickBooks, and a long integration list—free with limits, paid for more usage.
Why it matters
Aisha Malik reports for TechCrunch that Meta on Tuesday expanded its AI agent Muse to small businesses, adding integrations including Shopify, Dropbox, Slack, Asana, Box, Canva, Figma, QuickBooks, Klaviyo, Stripe, Zoom, and more, plus Instagram professional analytics, Facebook Pages, and Meta ad accounts.
Meta says Muse can know what a business sells, how the brand sounds, and what customers ask about most—betting that an agent with whole-operation context beats a standalone chatbot. Muse for Small Business is free with usage limits; heavier use requires a subscription.
The launch follows Monday’s Meta Enterprise Platform announcement and the hiring of former MongoDB CEO Chirantan “CJ” Desai. Muse launched earlier this month and topped US and Canada app charts ahead of ChatGPT.
From the desk
We’re bullish on the job-to-be-done and clear-eyed about the trust tax. Small owners are short on hours, not ideas—that line is right. Wiring Muse into Shopify, QuickBooks, and ads is how an agent stops being a toy.
Useful AI for Main Street is a goal we share. The downside is concentration: the same company that already mediates your customers, pages, and ad auctions now wants to run the agent that speaks as your brand. When that agent errs—wrong refund, weird DM, hallucinated inventory—the blast radius is the business’s reputation, not Meta’s.
I’m watching permissions and audit logs. “Knows what you sell and how you sound” is powerful and creepy in the same breath. Free-with-limits is how Muse gets defaulted into workflows before anyone reads the data-sharing screen.
If Muse becomes the SMB operating layer, Meta’s enterprise bet starts to pay for the AI capex. If trust issues from the consumer Muse debut linger, small businesses will try it once and churn to whoever feels safer—even if less integrated.

Who feels it
- Small business owners
- Pilot on non-critical workflows first; verify refund, messaging, and ad actions have human confirmations.
- Shopify and SaaS partners
- Agent integrations become a distribution channel—and a support burden when Muse mis-fires.
- Rival agent makers
- Meta just dropped a bundled distribution advantage via Pages, IG, and ads.
What to watch
- Subscription pricing and what “usage limits” mean in practice
- Early SMB failure stories involving payments or customer messages
- Whether Enterprise Platform and SMB Muse share the same safety controls
