Meta’s new One subscriptions put a price on social media and AI

Meta One bundles Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook Plus with extra Muse/Meta AI generation — from $7.99 consumer tiers up to $499 business Max.
Why it matters
Days after launching its Muse AI assistant, Meta rolled out Meta One subscription bundles globally. Consumer Core is $7.99 a month and Premium $19.99, wrapping Instagram Plus, WhatsApp Plus, and Facebook Plus with more Meta AI media generation, including Muse images and Instagram Restyle.
Creator and business tiers run $14.99 to $499 monthly with verified badges, impersonation monitoring, scheduling, analytics, and escalating Meta Business Agent capacity on WhatsApp. Meta says core apps and Meta AI stay free, and à la carte app subscriptions remain available.
We’re watching social networks productize AI usage caps the same way they productized badges and story length.
From the desk
We’re not shocked Meta put a meter on generation. Training and serving Muse-class features is expensive, and bundling three Plus products under $11 equivalent standalone pricing is a classic platform squeeze toward the bundle.
The business ladder is the sharper tell. Essential through Max sell trust theater (verification, impersonation protection), distribution (bold follow, search ranking), and agent capacity for 24/7 WhatsApp replies. That is CRM-meets-feed monetization with an AI surcharge.
Useful assistants inside apps people already live in can lower friction. The downside if this scales is a louder free tier that feels throttled, creators paying rent for reach, and AI features that train users to expect quality only behind a paywall. I’m watching whether Muse generation limits on free become the real conversion engine — and how fast Edits and AI glasses get pulled into the same bundles.
Context
Some Meta One bundles were in testing earlier in the year. Meta says it plans to expand bundles to include Edits, AI glasses, and more over time.
